BISS Students Excel in Maths Competitions

The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a charity formed to advance the education of young people in Mathematics. For a number of years students at BISS have competed with remarkable success in the competitions that they organise. These are divided into Senior, Intermediate and Junior Maths competitions, though we often find our students do so well they are able to compete in a level above their age range. This year, an impressive 14 BISS students earned Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates.

We are especially proud of two students in particular, who have qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad Round 1 (BMO1), placing them at the level of the top young mathematicians across the UK. Qualifying for the BMO1 is a significant achievement that reflects a student’s outstanding mathematical capabilities, placing them among the best young mathematicians in the country.

We are also excited to expand our participation in international competitions this year by entering the Swedish Kangaroo Mathematics Competition (Kängurutävlingen), a bilingual contest that promises to develop our students' mathematical abilities even further.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our Senior Mathematics Challenge participants. Your achievements are a testament to your hard work, passion, and commitment to learning. A special thank you to our dedicated teachers and supportive parents who make these successes possible.

We’re proud of each of you and can’t wait to see where your mathematical journey will take you next!
