Scholarships at BISS

The goal of our program

The British International School of Stockholm offers scholarships for entry into the school between Year 1 and Year 12. We aim to offer our world class education to additional students, expanding the horizons of our community to international education and higher education opportunities, and diversifying our student body.

Eligibility requirements

Students (and their legal guardians, especially when earlier years are concerned) wishing to apply for a scholarship should meet the following requirements: 

Alignment with the school’s mission: subscribes to BISS’s values and mission, and demonstrates the aptitude to become a future global citizen.

International mindset: the applicant has an openness towards other cultures, other people and diverse viewpoints.

Chance of success: the applicant can demonstrate basic Academic aptitude via an aptitude test or, when applicable, grades in previous years. Knowledge of and fluency in English isn’t a requirement.

Guardian support: parents and/or guardians play a critical role in their child’s education. They work collaboratively with the school to ensure that the child’s needs are met. The applicant's home environment should demonstrate that the appropriate adjustments can be made where necessary to allow for a suitable setting for learning. 

Eligibility of residence: the applicant must have the right to study in Sweden, including a Swedish Personal Number.

Financial situation: applicants will need to prove their financial need. Families will be assessed case by case basis.

Spot availability: the applicant’s desired Year can accept additional scholarship students based on its projected attendance numbers.

Application steps and timeline 

> Step 1: please write to our Scholarship Coordinator, Louise Samet (l.samet@bisstockholm.se) by November 15th, 2024.

> Step 2: applications will be reviewed in November 2024.
> Step 3: offers will be made by December 15, 2024. 

Selection process

  1. Applications will be examined by the Scholarship selection committee. 

  2. Shortlisted candidates will undergo the entrance requirements process.

  3. Shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview with members of the scholarship selection committee and Head of the school to which they are applying.

Costs covered by funding

  • School fees

  • Any exam fees (IGCSE, IBDP etc) 

  • Any cost related to university preparation (e.g. portfolio for art courses)

  • Compulsory trips

  • Cafeteria

  • Computer and other learning materials as provided to all other students

  • School material (PE Kit, Lab coat, notebooks, pens etc)
