Vive les crêpes!

As a part of the Cambridge International Curriculum, our students select a foreign language for study. In addition to learning the language, they gain insight into the culture of countries where French is spoken, thus encouraging positive attitudes towards language learning and towards speakers of other languages.

This term, Year 8 pupils at BISS have been learning about cooking traditions in Francophone countries during their French lessons. To celebrate their newfound knowledge and with the very kind help of Food & Nutrition Teacher Madame Williams, they’ve been learning how to cook crêpes, while showing off their creative side by competing for the most inventive filling. The fillings have ranged from traditional sweet and savoury options to more experimental twists on classic desserts. Monsieur Magdeburg, Madame Fradet, Monsieur Rodriguez, and Madame Blair were given the task of tasting and judging!

Congratulations to our students who took first place with their Italian twist on a French classic: a tiramisu-flavoured filling. C’était un délice! Bravo!
