The Art of Junk Modelling
Last week, we introduced junk modelling to our Foundation students, starting with learning different ways to join materials together. The first join we have learned is called the flange, a simple but effective technique for attaching objects.
Junk modelling offers children rich learning experiences—developing their creativity, problem-solving skills, and fine motor abilities as they manipulate materials. It also encourages imaginative thinking, spatial awareness, and the confidence to experiment with their ideas. Through hands-on exploration, children gain a deeper understanding of how everyday items can be transformed into something new!
